Hi. Welcome to my scribe post about 2 step Algebra. In our previous math class Mr. Harbeck taught us how to solve 2 step problems.
The two problems I will be solving are:
3x-7+2x=9
-n+5+21n=0
Here is how you solve it:
3x-7+2x=9
5x-7+7=9+7
5x=16
5 5
x=3.2
First Step: Do Combining Like Terms by adding 3x and 2x to make it into 5x
Second Step: Re-write the problem so that the coefficient, variable, and constant goes first and the answer is last. Make sure to take away the -7 out by adding +7 which will give you 9+7=16
Third Step: After that you get 5x=16. To isolate the variable, you will need to divide 5x and 16 by 7
x=3.2
Here is how you solve the second question:
-n+5+21n=0
20n+5=0
20n+5-5+0-5
20n=-5 ÷ 5
20 20 ÷ 5
x=-¼
First Step: Combining Like Terms. Add -n (-1n) and 21n
Second Step: Re-write the question,make sure to take away the +5 by adding -5 to it.
Third Step: When you get 20n=-5, you divide that by 5/5.
x=-¼
sorry,my brain is still a pebble. i cant verify when multiplying fractions.
