Hi hi. Welcome to my scribe post about 2 step algebra. In our last class Mr. Harbeck taught us how to solve 2 step problems.

Two of the problems that I'm going to solve are:
-69 = 7v - 6
-5u + 12 = -48

Here's how you solve it:

-69 = 7v - 6

1. You rewrite the question so that the coefficient, variable, and constant is on the left side while the answer is on the right.
2. To isolate the variable you first have to take away your constant by adding 6 to both sides of the equal sign.
3. After you add 6 you now have 7v = -63. To isolate the variable, you would have to divide 7 to both sides.
4. Once you have divided 7v and -63, v = -63

This is how you solve the second question:

-5u + 12 = -48

1. If you want to isolate the variable, you have to get rid of your constant. To do that you have to subtract 12 from +12 and subtract 12 from -48.
2. After that, what you have left is -5u = -60. To isolate the variable you would have to divide -5 to both sides of the equal sign.
3. Once you've divided -5 to -5u and -60, u = 12.
